Ingredient Conscious Beauty
76% call ingredients extremely or very important. See what our community seeks, what they avoid and what it would take to earn their trust and their spend.
Kaidron's community has grown fluent in the language on the back of the bottle. This week we asked how closely our members read ingredient lists, which actives they chase and which they have learned to avoid. We also wanted to know what it would take to earn their trust and their spend.
76% call ingredients extremely or very important when choosing a beauty product. 70% say they feel confident reading an ingredient list before it goes in the basket. Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and peptides top the list of actives our community actively seeks out. Alcohol, parabens and sulphates sit firmly on the avoid list.
For brands and collaborators, the takeaway is clear. Ingredient literacy is no longer a niche interest, it is table stakes. 81% have walked away from a product because of what was inside it. 73% would pay more for formulas backed by real science rather than marketing language alone.
Reading the Fine Print
Before a product earns a place in the routine, most of our community reads the label first. Confidence in what they find there varies more than curiosity does.

Where the Learning Happens
What They Seek, What They Skip
Some ingredients earn automatic trust. Others get an automatic pass. Alcohol tops the avoid list by a wide margin, followed closely by the preservative and surfactant families brands have spent a decade reformulating around.
On the flip side, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and peptides are the actives most likely to win a place in the basket. Respondents could select more than one ingredient here, so totals do not sum to 100%.
Only 11% completely trust "clean beauty" claims.
Trust in ingredient marketing is earned in the fine print, not on the front label. Proof outperforms promise, and vague claims are losing ground fast.
Mindset and Values
Ingredient consciousness runs deeper than curiosity. It shapes how our community researches, what pulls them toward new actives and when they are willing to walk away entirely.
Trust in Clean Beauty Claims
Ingredient concerns are not a passive filter. For most of our community, they are an active reason to abandon a product entirely, mid routine.

Non-Negotiables
When a claim has to work harder than the ingredient list itself, proof of testing outranks buzzwords every time.
73% would pay more for products backed by real science.
Ingredient education is not a nice to have, it is a purchase driver. The community is already primed to dig deeper. Brands that meet them there earn the premium.
